Cedar Place

The Daajing Giids Heritage Housing Society (DGHHS) acquired a small office building at 302 Second Avenue in 2005 and leased it to health care providers until the new hospital opened in 2016. The Society has taken advantage of recent funding opportunities for housing and has converted the building into four independent living suites. There are two 2-bedroom suites and two single bedroom suites.

This project has inspired other Haida Gwaii communities to launch their own housing initiatives.

We are grateful to the Village of Daajing Giids for their continued support. Many thanks also to the project funders: BC Housing, Gwaii Trust, Makola Housing Society and AHMA. Special thanks to North Coast MLA Jennifer Rice for being our champion!
